Longview Baptist Church has its beginning in 1923 when a local group of believers began holding church services at what was then called the Big Road. In 1924, Albert Crews donated one acre of land located at this spot and a wood arbor was erected where services and then later replaced with a small fram building. The name Longview came about when Dr. C.B. Durham walked out in front of the church and looking down the road cold see a long way in either directin.
Since this time the church has grown in every way. The church campus now contains five buildings including a 500 seat worship center, the old sanctuary, education buildings, office building and Family Life Center. What started as a handful of believers has grown to over 750 members. Yet through 80 plus years of change some things have remained the same. Longview began with a vision to reach our community and the world with the life changing gospel of Jesus Christ. This is the same goal that we continue to strive for today: To Know Him and Make Him Known in our community, area, state and around tthe world.
We are an autonomous body of believers that has chosen to affiliate ourselves with the North Rapides Baptist Association, the Louisiana Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention so that our resources in reaching this world might be cooperative and more effective.
